Teachers’ and Principals’ Involvements in the Project

The proposed project needs a large scale of cooperation from the selected schools and their representatives (e.g., language and subject area teachers and principals). The role of language and STEM subject teachers are quite crucial from the beginning of lecture development and online platform development, and they will be invited to design, participate and implement the school-based collaboration.

In the preliminary phase, researchers will organise frequent meetings to collect enough information on current STEM curriculum at secondary level and teachers’ professional experience at school setting. The topics of reading materials will be selected with reference to the language and STEM teachers’ suggestions in order to select the most suitable content. Researchers will introduce reciprocal teaching at secondary level and present the rough plan and related reading materials so that gather objective evaluation for update. School teachers will be welcomed to apply for the position of part-time language teachers for actual intervention and all of the teachers will be invited to participate in workshops and seminars to learn about reciprocal teaching and operations of online platform. During the intervention, teachers will be responsible for immediately evaluating the quality of lectures and giving the relevant feedback. After the intervention, the Language and STEM teachers will be invited to the follow-up interviews to explore their beliefs between cross-departmental collaboration and identify effective ways of mechanism in curriculum design and materials preparation. Our team will also ask them to share the experience of the project, perceived effectiveness of reciprocal strategies, students’ online interaction and feasibility of the intervention in school setting for the last stage of teaching guidance development.
